BEHIND THE SCENES OF PHILOMENA ZANETTI’S NEW LOOKBOOK SHOOT
Launched in Berlin 2014 by Julia Leifert, Philomena Zanetti is a proof of a fact that sustainable cruelty-free clothes and high quality fashion are not antithetic to each other. The name of the brand is a tribute to designer’s great-great-grandmother. For Julia the name symbolizes a fairytale of an old time and epitomizes consciousness of value, relation to nature and deceleration.
Philomena Zanetti uses only natural, high-quality organic fabrics, and the production takes place under fair and transparent circumstances near Berlin to ensure the avoidance of more unnecessary transportation and waste. Most of the fabrics are produced in Europe and labeled with the international sustainable GOTS-seal, and because of the love for animals there is no use of leather nor fur.
Designer Julia Leifert brings her personal approach into fashion by putting together masculine and feminine pieces, mixing strong and heavy fabrics with softs, effortless classics and the comfort of casualness.
Debuted at Berlin Fashion Week, her AW16 collection ‘MELANCHOLIA’ was inspired by the rugged Irish countryside silhouettes, distinctive textures and muted colours.
No matter the time, weather or mood, fashion is always a statement.
The deepest spot of the soul, a feeling that is carved in the stone.
Melancholia is about the Essence and the collection recreates the awareness of essential things in life. Wide landscapes and nature have been the main inspiration for the collection’s earthy colours, open shapes and natural materials.
Breathe, slow down, step aside and view the outside from the inside. Melancholia is about the time spent with one’s Self and the feeling of security and safety that is created and fabricated in clothing.
